Tragic Kingdom - Episode 24.1

Carol Manson sighed as she listened again to the annoying music playing while she was on hold. The company she was on hold with were going to get an ear full when they finally graced her with their time. She was looking out of the windows of her new office, the building they had moved to so much bigger than the old Town Hall. The old Town Hall had been inspected, and had failed. Brick was crumbling. The roof needed major work. The foundation had cracks that would take a lot of money to fix. So, it was decided to move to a new building. It was a lovely place, and there was hardly any work to be done on it, which Carol was thankful for.
The rebuilding of the town was still taking place. Millions had been donated to help them create the town it had once been. There were still problems, big ones, that needed to be fixed. Yet it was comforting to have the money there. It was a blanket the town needed.
Finally, a voice said: "Hello, Miss Manson?"
"Finally," Carol replied. "I have been waiting for ten minutes."
"I'm so sorry. We're really busy here."
"I'm sure, but so am I. Look. I've been waiting for a crew to be sent over for a week, and we've still not heard anything from you, let alone seen any sign of your team."
"We have a lot of private jobs on our books at the moment. People want us to help them rebuild their homes."
Carol rolled her eyes. "I understand that. It's just we have a lot of public buildings that need to be made safe again. People are losing money. Please, get a team of builders over here today. Even if it's just a small team to get started."
"I'll see what I can do."
Carol put the phone down and took a seat at her desk. She rubbed her temples, trying to dispell the headache that was building. It was going to be a tough few weeks, she knew it.

"What do you think?" Grace Roundhouse asked Ellie Moore as she took her into the living room of her new apartment.
"It's nice. Better than the old place."
"There is a problem. I only have one extra bedroom here, so unless you and Rachael want to share...one of you might have to find a new place," Grace told her.
Ellie folded her arms. "Why do you want to stay with you?"
"Both of you, but I just don't have the space in this apartment."
"I'll make this easy for us all. I'll go," Ellie said and turned for the door.
"You can stay on the sofa until you find a place," Grace told her.
Ellie turned to face Grace once more. "No thanks. I'll be fine."
Before Grace could say anymore, Ellie slammed the door. She sighed. This really wasn't what she wanted. There was just no room for the three of them. Her old apartment had been bigger. This one used to be a townhouse before it was converted into apartments. She hated letting one of her friends down. But there was no other way.

"I can't believe this is my house," Dawn Sundale said as she and Mike Jaydon looked around.
"It shouldn't be long before everything is back to normal," Mike reassured.
Dawn looked out of the open walls. The builders had just left, and had told her that when the wing of the plane hit the building it had cracked the foundation pretty bad. It was going to take a lot of work to fix everything up.
"Everything looks so different."
"The whole town is starting to look different. We'll make a nice home here."
"I can't wait to start building a life with you. This house has so many great memories, but there is still so much more space to add more. I'm glad I'm making them with you," Dawn said, taking Mike's hand into hers and holding it tightly...never wanting to let go.
Mike put an arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer. No more words were needed.
